Dr. Schelbert is a Scientific Advisory Board Member of FluoroPharma. He is Professor of Pharmacology and Radiological Sciences and a Chief of Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine.
He has made several seminal contributions to the field of cardiac PET imaging including development of a radiotracer techniques used in non-invasive blood flow imaging and characterization of the substrate metabolism in the human heart. His on-going research focuses on exploring the regulation of the coronary circulation in the human heart and on the noninvasive characterization of coronary endothelial function as a critical component in the development of atherosclerosis. He is the current Editor–In-Chief of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine.
Dr. Schelbert completed residences in Cardiology/Physiology Research at the Heinrich-Heine-Universitat Duesseldorf, Germany and in Internal Medicine at the Mercy Catholic Medical Center. He received both his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Wuerzburg, Germany.
