Dr. Apovian is a Scientific Advisory Board Member of Gelesis. She is Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine, Director of the Nutrition and Weight Management Center at Boston Medical Center and Director of Clinical Research at the Obesity Research Center of Boston Medical Center. She is an Associate Editor of the Obesity Journal and is co-editor of the Obesity and Nutrition Section of Current Opinion in Endocrinology and Diabetes and serves on the Betsy Lehman Center for Patient Safety and Medical Error Reduction Expert Panel on Weight Loss Surgery for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Dr. Apovian received her M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and completed her residency and fellowship at the New England Deaconess Hospital.
