Carol Tamminga, MD

Communities Foundation of Texas Chair in Brain Science, Chair of the Department and Professor of Psychiatry, University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine

Dr. Tamminga is a Scientific Advisory Board Member of Karuna Pharmaceuticals.  She is Chair of the Department and Professor of Psychiatry, Vice Chair for Clinical Research, and Chief of Translational Neuroscience Research in Schizophrenia at the University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine, and holds the Communities Foundation of Texas Chair in Brain Science.  

She has published over 300 papers and two books in the areas of psychopharmacology, neuroscience, or schizophrenia and was elected into the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. 

 

She has served on the FDA Psychopharmacology Advisory Committee, where she was Chair of the committee from 1991 to 1994.  She is the co-founder of the International Congress on Schizophrenia Research.
