Alberto Recordati earned a degree in biochemistry from King's College of the University of London in 1977. In 1984 he earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry at the Charing Cross Hospital Medical School of the same university.
Alberto joined Recordati, a European pharmaceutical group, in 1984 as researcher in the biochemistry and immunology lab. In 1987 he was in charge of the planning and product development unit. From 1990 to 1992 he worked at Pharmetrix Corp., a United Stated subsidiary, as research coordinator. In 1992 he was appointed industrial manager for biochemicals, in charge of biochemical/microbiological research and the biochemical/fermentation production. In 1995 Alberto became general manager of the chemicals research and technologies division, and in 1999, President of the pharmaceutical chemicals division. In 2004 he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Board.
